We will start the tour in the morning from the airport or your accommodation in a private vehicle towards the port of Bellavista Nanay. During the journey, our guide will make a brief historical review of the city of Iquitos and about the activities we will do during the day.

Once at the port of Bellavista Nanay, we can see and appreciate the market where merchants from nearby communities sell their products. Then we will sail in a typical boat (pamacari) for about 10 minutes along the Nanay River downstream until we reach the confluence of the Nanay and Amazonas rivers. There you will be able to see the difference of color between the rivers, black water from Nanay River and brown or white water from Amazon river.

We will continue our trip downstream for an hour and a half to the lodge with its characteristic rustic style. During the trip you can enjoy the beautiful landscape and have the possibility to see the gray river dolphins (Sotalia fluviatilis) and pink (Inia geoffrensis), diversity of birds such as the yellow billed tern (Sternula superciliaris), olivaceous cormorant (Phalacrocorax olivaceus), great egret (Ardea alba), snowy egret (Egretta thula) and ring kingfisher (Megaceryle torquata) among many others, as well as some rural towns and villages on the banks of the river.

Once in the Lodge, you will be able to leave your belongings and get comfortable while we prepare to enjoy a nice regional lunch, typical of the Amazon jungle, cooked with products of the area and accompanied by fruits and natural juices.

After lunch, we will continue our trip to the island of the monkeys. There, you can interact directly with different species of primates such as the yellow tailed wooly monkey (Lagothrix lagotricha), black spider monkey (Ateles paniscus), saddle back tamarin (Saguinus fuscicollis), red howler monkey (Alouatta seniculus), pigmy marmoset (Cebuella pygmaea), monk saki (Pithecia monachus) and san martin titi monkey (Callicebus oenanthe); also parrots and a nice macaw (Ara macao). In addition, you can observe these species of monkeys feeding on natural varieties of plants and fruits that are right there.

After having a pleasant experience, we will leave the island in search of the river dolphins while we prepare to be part of the adrenaline filled experience of sport fishing for piranhas, among other species. Here our guide will make a brief demonstration and explain the correct and safe way of fishing, providing all the necessary equipment.

Now is the time to take a break will be the opportunity to swim in the longest and largest river in the world, the Amazon River, and enjoy the beautiful sunset in the Amazon rainforest to then go to the lodge to enjoy a delicious dinner.

After dinner, we will make a nocturnal walk where we can see and identify reptiles, amphibians, mammals and arachnids of nocturnal habits, which are normally hidden during the day. We will also enjoy a unique show on the planet, the deafening sound of the jungle at night.

It is time to rest and replenish all our energies.

Accommodation will be provided at the lodge.

We will start the day early in the morning to be able to enjoy the beautiful dawn on the Amazon River on board our boat. We will take advantage of the occasion and high bird activity at dawn to go birdwatching. We will take the time to relax, listen and enjoy the birds’ beautiful songs.

Then we will return to the lodge to enjoy a delicious and energizing tropical breakfast accompanied with fruits and natural juices.

Our adventure day will continue with sailing for approximately 30 minutes to the Santa Maria de Fatima village. There we will do an excursion to the primary jungle (virgin), doing recognition of the medicinal plants which have been used to treat diseases by our ancestors since remote times. Also we will also see a diversity of timber trees and learn about their main characteristics; specific association between plants, trees and animals, parasitic plants, epiphytes and vines. During our walk we will have the chance to see monkeys, amphibians, reptiles, arachnids and a variety of insects a in their natural habitat.

After the walk we will return to the lodge and enjoy a nice regional lunch.

Once we finish the lunch, we will continue our route to the San Rafael community to visit the Morphosapi butterfly farm, which is the biggest at Loreto region, where you could observe a wide diversity of butterfly species, learn about their metamorphosis process and also the different stages of their life cycle (larva, chrysalis or pupa and adult).

We will start the day enjoying a tropical breakfast, then set sail in the direction of the Yanayacu river basin, also known as "jungle of mirrors" by the reflection of the water, where we will stay at a new lodge.

After leaving our belongings in the new lodge along the Yanayacu River, we will jump from the boat to the mainland to submerge ourselves in the “giant trees kingdom” and make an ethnobotanical walk. We will have the pleasure to see the Ceiba (Ceiba petandra), the largest tree in the Amazon jungle which exceeds 50 meters in height. We will continue our walk paying close attention to the environment, especially to the canopy of the forest trying to identify sloths and monkey species which will be eating and doing daily activities in their natural habitat. Also you could see a variety of birds, insects, arachnids, reptiles and amphibians.

We will take advantage of the opportunity to enjoy the beautiful landscape, take photographs and try our luck in sport fishing having the possibility of catching a variety of fish such as the red piranha (Serrasalmus nattereri), flag cichlid (Mesonauta festivus), elongated hatchetfish (Triportheus elongatus) and mojarra (Tetragonopterus argenteus), among others.

After enjoying this beautiful place, we will leave it behind to return to our boat, once there we will start sailing back to the lodge to have dinner and rest until the next day.

We will wake up in the early morning to make an expedition in canoe, taking advantage of the dawn to discover the animals that begin to activate along with the appearance of the first rays of the sun. It will be the ideal time to spot birds, mammals and reptiles that begin their day.

Amazonian Breakfast.

After breakfast we will prepare to go in search of the Hoatzin (Opisthocomus hoazin), a prehistoric bird considered by some as a living dinosaur. One (of several) peculiar characteristic is that until they are adults they have two claws in each wing and that from very small the chicks used to climb the trees to return to their nest, after having jumped into the water escaping from some threat. After visiting this particular and beautiful bird, we will return to the lodge to enjoy our lunch.

Amazonian Lunch.

After enjoying lunch we will move, we will board our boat to sail for 30 minutes to the community of Yanayacu Tini Curillo, where we will make a short walk where we will take advantage of recognizing medicinal plants and their main uses, to later meet the aquatic plant more great of the world: the Watter Lily (Victoria amazónica). This plant is characterized by having large circular leaves that can reach 3 meters in diameter floating above the surface of the water and on their submerged stems that can reach a length of 7 to 8 m in length. Its flower is also very large and can reach 40 cm in diameter. In addition, they can support up to 40 kg if the weight is well distributed on its surface. Then enjoy this great plant. We will take the opportunity to take an ethnobotanical walk and enjoy the jungle that surrounds us before returning to the lodge to enjoy dinner.

Amazonian Dinner.

Accommodation at the lodge.

To start the day, we will enjoy a delicious tropical breakfast accompanied by fruits and natural juices, and then we will embark on our exciting meeting with some members of the Yaguas tribe. Here you can be part of their customs, listen to their history, dialect, songs and of course practice their dances with them. It will be a unique experience, where you will also learn about the blowgun (wind weapon), which is their main hunting weapon. And while we’re at it why not take some practice shots? In addition, if you want you can buy handicrafts that they make with their own hands, contributing to preserve the community and its customs.

After living this unforgettable experience, we will partake in the adrenaline filled sportfishing of piranhas, among other species. Here our guide will make a brief demonstration and explain the correct and safe way of fishing, providing all the necessary equipment. Here, if you wish, you can keep your best captured specimen so that you can later cook it and taste it at the lodge during lunch.

We will return to the lodge and enjoy a nice regional lunch, typical of the area.
