We will begin our rout in the morning/afternoon from your accommodation in a private vehicle towards the port of Bellavista Nanay. During the journey, our guide will make a brief historical review of the city of Iquitos and about the activities to be done during the day.

Once at the port of Bellavista Nanay, you can see and appreciate its market where merchants from nearby communities sell their products. Then we will sail in a typical boat (pamacari) for about 10 minutes along the Nanay River downstream until we reach the confluence of the Nanay and Amazonas rivers. There you will be able to see the difference of color between both rivers, black water from the Nanay river and brown or white water from the Amazonas river.

After having appreciated this beautiful phenomenon of the confluence of waters from both rivers, we will begin the search for gray (Sotalia fluviatilis) and pink river dolphins (Inia geoffrensis)..

Continuing our trip we will sail for 30 minutes to the native community of Padre Cocha. From there we will move to the butterfly farm in an approximate 10 minute trip by land or boat, which will depend on the level of the river due to whether it is the dry or rainy season. Once at the Pilpintuwasi butterfly farm you can observe a wide diversity of butterfly species, learn about their metamorphosis process, and also the different stages of their life cycle (larva, chrysalis or pupa and adult).

Currently, the Pilpintuwasi butterfly farm is also functioning as a rescue center for wildlife, where the animals present have been rescued from illegal trade on the black market or from misappropriation by people who keep them as pets. The animals are in the process of recovery for their subsequent release to their natural environment.

After visiting this beautiful place, we will continue our journey until we reach the Momon River where we will sail for 25 minutes to the native community of Boras.

We will end our day returning to the port of Bellavista Nanay, where you will be transferred to our office.
